Coach Paul Delport applauds impact from new players at Rugby World Cup Sevens
The fact that they are not part of the HSBC World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series hampers their progress. “We need to try and qualify (for the series) again,” said Delport. “We are losing ground to those teams playing in the World Series and the gap is increasing. We will have to play in more tournaments as well.”
‘A victory at the qualifying tournament will be a vital breakthrough as it will mean that we get to play the top teams all the time and not just randomly. Another positive spin-off is that the standard of women’s rugby in the country should improve.’
