An Astronomical Unit (AU) is the average distance between the Earth and the Sun, that is about 93 million
miles or 150 million Kilometers. We have convenient units of measurement - that is Units, Tens, Thousands,
Millions, Billions, Trillions, Quadrillion. Then we have the Googol, which is 10 to the power 100, that is the digit
1 followed by 100 zeros. Other names for Googol include 10 duotrigintillion on the short scale, ten thousand
sexdecilion on the long scale, or ten sexdecilliard on the Peietier long scale.
A Googolplex is the number 10 to the power googol, or 10 to the power 10 to the power 100. This is a really
big number. Let’s try to imagine a Googolplex of AU’s - a very long distance in space away from us.
